Scenario Writer SME

IDS International is seeking a Scenario Writer Subject Matter Expert (SME) who revises or writes material that is mostly standardized for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures. The SME will be responsible for Future Study Plans and Events, as well as developing and executing seminars and other analytical events facilitating the study of future new generation warfare concepts using futuristic global scenarios and multiple potential crises that cross a wide range of military operations exploring concepts for Army, Service and Joint Communities across multiple and varied geographical locations around the world. The Writer/Editor will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Review and provide assistance to the NGW Initiatives Group interim and final reports and compare/contrast its findings and recommendations.
  • Provide a written summary of critical differences and contradictions between the interim and final reports.
  • Document findings, and provide analysis and recommendations in a report producing a initiatives group plan that identifies detailed assessment of historical data collected, includes operational and financial content, identifies objectives, and identifies discrete learning demands supporting outcomes of each conclusion.
  • Highlights discrete issues to be examined within and across the Warfighting and targeted subject matter functions.
  • Edit and incorporate document updates prepared by contributors and SMEs; ensure that grammar and style conform to project standards of writing, and that syntax and expression are consistent and paragraph organization is logical and conveys desired emphasis.
  • Ensure that technical information is conveyed clearly and concisely such that it is capable of being interpreted by a variety of audiences with varying levels of technical understanding.
  • Provide and Prepare intelligence reports that support AFRICOM, EUCOM, SOUTHCOM, and CENTCOM lines of effort for the exercise control group in order to identify and refine current and priority intelligence requirements.
  • Prepare story lines and themes consistent with the overall exercise scenario and training objectives.
  • Develop intelligence oriented exercise products, and scenarios for the exercise program.
  • Work with internal and external teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements.
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Translate complex concepts and solutions into multiple types of documents (requirements, diagrams, SOPs, etc.).
  • Document core product specifications, standard operating procedures, use cases, requirements, and technical designs.
  • Create process flow, networking, and infrastructure diagrams.
  • Conduct technical reviews of other writers’ work, reviewing and analyzing the technical information that was incorporated.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Business, International Studies, International Relations, or related degree.
  • Previous experience providing DoD advisory experience to CSA, SecArmy, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, SECDEF and other Senior Military Leaders
  • Provide a published writer demonstrating expertise in organizing and presenting information and decision briefings requiring development of written analyses, plans, and reports at the Army Senior Leader level and the Army and Joint Staff level.
  • Previous experience in the participation of DoD studies of NGW
  • Expertise in Army style writing
  • Expertise on emerging country specific technologies, capabilities, and country development of tactical, operational, and strategic tactics, techniques, and procedures
  • Experience as author of publications, briefings, wargame development or participation on NWG events
  • International experience throughout assigned AOR and the Anti-Terrorist Operation Zone
  • Extensive writing skills and demonstrate experience articulating complex issues and topics in writing
  • Ability to travel overseas 50%.
